About our cause

Kara Kore is one of the poorest neighborhoods in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The Lelt Foundation has started a sponsorship program that enables children who were either laboring or too sick to attend school to receive nutrition, tutoring, counseling, and tuition support so they can go to school and pull out of the cycle of poverty. The children's families are given micro-farm training to teach them the skills to start their own poultry or vegetable business, and generate their own income.

What population we serve?

vulnerable children and their families in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

What success we've already had

We have over 60 students thriving in our daily tutoring and lunch programs, and many of their parents have started their own backyard farms in our Business Start Up Program. The Repi Boys’ Home was just opened in June to house abandoned and abused children, and our Community Center is a daily refuge for the families of Kara Kore.

Our primary mission
We are dedicated to the safety and well-being of disadvantaged children in Ethiopia. We have a sponsorship program that enables entire families in a small neighborhood in Addis Ababa to pull themselves out of poverty and generate their own income.

Why should you support our cause

The Lelt Foundation believes that proper nutrition and education are the keys to pulling children out of the cycle of poverty.

How the money will be spent

We provide nutrition for severely malnourished children, business start-up opportunities for their parents, shelter for abused or abandoned children, and a Community Center for tutoring, counseling, and computer training. We would divide this generous grant equally among our 4 programs.
