Empowering Grieving Children and Teens

Kate’s Club in Atlanta, GA 30309 by Emily Hawkins

About our cause

Kate's Club provides the support that grieving children and thier families need at a time of unimaginable heartbreak and upheaval. Kate's Club was founded in 2003 by a young woman, Kate, whose mother died from breast cancer when she was 12. We started with 6 kids and now serve over 500. But the need is so much greater! We aim to increase our program capacity by 50% to ensure that grieving kids get the support they need, when they need it, with no wait.

What population we serve?

Grieving children and teens. Our members are 5-18 years old. They are diverse in race, income, background, and circustances surrounding the death.

What success we've already had

•80% of participants are able to establish a positive, supportive relationship with at least one peer. •90% have been able to personally identify appropriate ways that they deal with grief. •95% of participants are able to “tell their own story,” a key indicator of healthy grieving.

Our primary mission
Kate’s Club is a non-profit organization that empowers children and teens facing life after the death of a parent or sibling.
