Training a village to better care for our children

For Children’s Sake of Virginia in Chantilly, VA by Heather Zakrzewski

About our cause

The project would allow our agency to attract and pay for needed additional training to better work with community families, foster families, biological families and foster children in our care. Better training for parents results in stable homes for children.

What population we serve?

We serve children from infancy to 21 years old with specific behavioral or medical needs.

What success we've already had

We served 36 children in 2011 and of those children, 29 were returned home to biological parents or adopted and 15 remained in care where we continued to work on getting them returned home or adopted as well.

Our primary mission
For Children’s Sake of Virginia is dedicated to promoting positive environments for children and families that develop trust, stability and independence.
Why should you support our cause

Parents who are well trained to deal with child behaviors create stable home environments and communities for all children.

How the money will be spent

This grant would be used for training of foster parents and staff, and parents in the community. Having parents that know how to deal with behaviors, especially with children who have been abused or neglected, is key to keeping stable homes for children and reduce the number of placements in care.
