Bring Out-of-School Opportunities to Low-Income High School Students

Wishbone in San Francisco, CA by Beth Schmidt

Education
About our cause

7,000 students drop out of high school every single day. 80% claim they would have stayed in school if it were relevant to their lives. We believe that out-of-school time presents one of the greatest opportunities for students to pursue their passions, rediscover the importance of school and put themselves back on a successful life-path. Wishbone sources low-income students with high potential and sends them to the programs that best serve their passions at no cost to their families.

What population we serve?

100% of our students come from low-income communities and cannot afford an out-of-school experience. We select students who demonstrate a strong passion and an urgent need for support.

What success we've already had

100% of students who have participated in a Wishbone experience have graduated from high school, matriculated to college, and claimed that the experience made them realize why succeeding in high school was relevant in pursuing their passions.

Our primary mission
Wishbone is committed to closing the nation’s achievement gap by bringing quality out-of-school opportunities to at risk and low-income high school students.
Why should you support our cause

Wishbone enriches the lives of individual students and combats America's dropout crisis by bringing out-of-school programming to at-risk high schoolers.

How the money will be spent

We’ll spend the grant money on the fulfillment of student wishes. This covers the process of application review, program vetting, student/teacher guidance, advocacy and mentorship.
