Codes for Causes

FAQ

Is this the main way you give away money?
No, this is in addition to The Give - our program of giving away money to organizations through a democratic voting platform on our site. Learn more here.

How did you arrive at 20% of the sub-total?
Typically, we give 10% of our revenue to non-profits, but when we sell directly online, rather than through a distributor plus a restaurant or store, we are eliminating the middle man and are able to give away more!

Do I have to work for the organization to get a code for it?
No, anyone can raise money for an organization by obtaining a code.

Is any non-profit eligible?
Most 501(c)3 non-profits are eligible. However, we do not support religious proselytizing or political organizations of any kind.

Does the cause need to be in the US?
No, as long the organization is registered in the US as a 501(c)3, the location of their work can be anywhere in the world.

Can I get a code to fundraise for my walk/run/race?
If you are walking/running/racing to raise money for a registered 501(c)3 non-profit, and the check will be made out to that organization, yes, you can.

Is every application for a code accepted?
No, first we vet the organization via sources like Charity Navigator and Guide Star.
